We are currently partnered with a company who are currently looking to increase plastic recycling from 10%-90% by targeting the materials that are notoriously difficult to recycle. They are developing a facility to achieve this in Houston, TX, that is targeted to become operational in April 2025 – if you’d like to have a hand in getting this up and running, we’d love to hear from you!
As EHS Manager, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of Health & Safety programs for a greenfield, first-of-its-kind facility, before then spearheading the execution and training also. It requires a highly creative and resourceful candidate who is not afraid to collaborate directly with staff on the floor to drive for positive EH&S practices across the business.
You will:
- Develop, implement, and train staff on health, safety, and environmental policies and programs, ensuring regulatory compliance and best practices.
- Prepare, document, and maintain key files such as training records, workplace hazard assessments, and compliance plans, including OSHA logs and medical surveillance.
- Perform routine EHS inspections, incident investigations, and drive corrective actions, tracking progress to completion.
- Chair the Safety Committee, facilitating continuous improvement through collaborative audits and supporting safety culture initiatives.
- Manage third-party safety consultants and collaborate with HR on regulatory compliance for drug testing practices and other safety protocols.
You must have:
- 5+ years of experience in environmental and/or safety compliance, preferably in a PSM-regulated facility.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing EHS programs and conducting safety training.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory affairs, including OSHA, EPA, and state agencies, with a focus on injury prevention and business continuity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft applications and EHS information systems.
