What you will do…
- Leverage quantitative analysis to gain insight into market behaviors and support data-informed decision-making, drawing from various sources like weather models, ISO reports, asset-level details, and PPA terms.
- Manage exposure to volume, congestion, and DART through market mechanisms such as outright power, FTRs/PTPs, virtuals, and options.
- Assess and propose optimal approaches for participating in PJM and MISO capacity auctions.
- Help develop tools and systems used in trading workflows, including stack models, bid generators, and performance dashboards.
- Monitor market developments, keeping up with fundamental drivers, emerging trends, and regulatory changes.
- Stay in close contact with operations teams to gather real-time asset information and provide market context for operational decisions (e.g., maintenance schedules, LD calculations).
- Communicate hedge strategies and outcomes to leadership and cross-functional teams (e.g., finance, legal, operations, asset management).
- Work closely with other trading groups across the company to exchange market perspectives and align strategies.
We want you on the team because you…
- Possess a solid grasp of PJM and MISO markets (familiarity with ERCOT is a plus), along with relevant experience or interest in these areas.
- Have traded in PJM and MISO, particularly in short- and mid-term horizons, using instruments like dailies, weeklies, virtuals, CRRs, or PTPs.
- Are strong in quantitative analysis and know how to apply that skill in a trading or market-oriented setting.
- Are passionate about energy markets—especially in renewables like wind and solar—as well as energy storage technologies.
- Stay on top of PJM market shifts, including rule changes and auction mechanisms, and can assess how these affect market conditions overall.
Bonus points if you also…
- Bring firsthand knowledge of managing or optimizing energy assets such as wind, solar, battery storage, or conventional generation.
- Understand risk management principles, including key metrics and thresholds.
- Are adept at working with large and complex datasets, particularly using Excel and Python (SQL experience is a plus).
