You will work closely with analysts, schedulers, and risk management teams to make informed and timely trading decisions in a dynamic market environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute virtual power trades in Day-Ahead and Real-Time wholesale electricity markets (e.g., PJM, MISO, ERCOT).
- Analyze market conditions, congestion patterns, LMPs (Locational Marginal Pricing), and transmission constraints to identify profitable trading strategies.
- Develop and maintain quantitative models for price forecasting, congestion prediction, and trade valuation.
- Monitor ISO/RTO market rules and regulatory developments impacting virtual trading strategies.
- Manage PnL and risk for assigned trading book, including scenario analysis and stress testing.
- Collaborate with internal teams on forecasting, operations, compliance, and asset optimization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 2–5+ years of experience in energy trading, with a strong focus on virtuals, FTRs, or congestion trading.
- Deep understanding of nodal pricing, congestion management, and ISO/RTO market dynamics.
- Strong analytical and programming skills (Python, R, SQL, or MATLAB).
- Familiarity with trading platforms, ISO data feeds, and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Ability to work independently, manage fast-paced decision-making, and perform under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience trading in multiple ISOs (e.g., PJM, ERCOT, MISO, NYISO, CAISO).
- Prior experience with machine learning or statistical modeling applied to power markets.
- Knowledge of FTR/CRR auctions, Up-to-Congestion (UTC) trades, and virtual bidding strategies.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary with performance-based bonuses.
- Access to proprietary trading tools and high-frequency data.
- Professional development opportunities and cross-market exposure.
- Flexible work environment and strong team culture.
