Engineer III

Storm4
Senior Electrical Engineer (Level III) — Design & Field Integration
Role Snapshot
Lead complex building-power projects from concept through commissioning. Provide advanced technical guidance, uphold codes and standards, mentor junior staff, and ensure designs are buildable, coordinated, and on budget.
How You’ll Make an Impact
-
Lead multidisciplinary project efforts, directing engineers, designers, and modelers on assigned scopes.
-
Serve as Engineer of Record on select projects.
-
Own submittal workflows: review, comment, and approve electrical equipment and system packages.
-
Drive cross-trade coordination with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and low-voltage partners.
-
Produce and QA design packages: power, lighting, grounding, and auxiliary systems.
-
Develop single-line diagrams, feeder and OCPD sizing, equipment layouts, and elevations.
-
Perform or oversee studies: short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash, and load-flow.
-
Execute distribution analyses, including voltage drop/droop and underground thermal ampacity (Neher–McGrath method).
-
Lead specifications and equipment procurement strategy (“buy-out”) aligned to project constraints.
-
Conduct site walks to survey existing conditions and validate design assumptions.
-
Apply engineering tools and sound judgment to evaluate loads, lighting levels, and fault duties.
-
Run value-engineering exercises to optimize performance, cost, and constructability.
-
Represent the electrical discipline in design meetings; interface directly with clients, architects, and MEP partners.
-
Coordinate design criteria, budgets, and deliverable schedules with the project manager.
-
Resolve clashes, RFIs, and drawing interpretation issues during installation.
-
Author clear sequences of operation and commissioning documentation; support testing/turnover.
-
Manage permitting interfaces and agency coordination with city, county, and state authorities.
-
Plan schedules, allocate resources, and steer the electrical workstream to milestone dates.
Note: This outline captures the core scope; related duties may be assigned as project needs evolve.
What You’ll Bring
-
Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Construction-related discipline (or equivalent blend of education and experience).
-
PE license (U.S.) required.
-
5+ years of electrical design engineering; at least 1 year of on-site/field exposure is strongly preferred.
-
Deep fluency in power distribution, lighting, grounding, energy efficiency, value engineering, and applicable codes/standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE).
-
Proficiency with design and productivity tools (e.g., Autodesk platforms; MS Office suite); experience with lighting calculation software and ERP/engineering productivity systems is a plus.
Skills That Set You Apart
-
Prioritizes effectively in fast-moving environments; adapts to changing requirements.
-
Clear written and verbal communicator across all levels—field, vendors, clients, executives.
-
Proactive, self-directed, and highly collaborative.
Travel & Work Environment
-
Travel up to ~50% (separate from routine local site visits).
-
Office work includes extended periods of sitting/standing, computer use, and occasional lifting up to ~40 lbs.
-
Typical indoor conditions; noise levels generally low to moderate.
Compensation & Benefits
-
Base salary target: $102.1k – $134k, commensurate with location, experience, and skills.
-
Performance-based bonus eligibility.
-
Retirement savings program (with employer contribution).
-
Employee ownership program.
-
17 days PTO plus ~10 paid holidays.
-
Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
-
Company-paid life/AD&D with optional supplemental coverage.
-
Short- and long-term disability.
-
Pre-tax health and dependent-care spending options.
