About the job

⚡Role: VP Network Engineering

💼 Industry: AI Infrastructure / Data Centers / High Performance Computing

🌎Location: United States (Remote + Significant Travel)

💰 Salary: Highly Competitive Base + Executive Bonus

⚡ Company Overview:

A high-growth infrastructure platform is seeking a VP of Network Engineering to lead the strategy, architecture, and scale-up of its next-generation network environment.

This is a rare opportunity to join during a period of significant expansion and help shape the technical foundation of a rapidly evolving compute platform. The successful candidate will provide leadership across network architecture, infrastructure strategy, reliability, technology roadmap, and organizational growth while partnering closely with executive stakeholders and cross-functional engineering teams.

⚡ Position Summary:

Reporting directly to executive leadership, the VP of Network Engineering will define and execute the network architecture strategy underpinning large-scale AI compute environments, GPU clusters, and next-generation data center infrastructure. This individual will serve as the technical authority for network fabrics, scalability, reliability, vendor strategy, and operational readiness while helping build and scale a world-class network engineering organization.

⚡ Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and scale GPU cluster fabrics supporting AI, HPC, and accelerated computing workloads.
  • Lead network architecture across AI data centers, including Ethernet AI fabrics, RDMA, RoCE, InfiniBand, storage networks, management networks, and customer connectivity.
  • Define scalable, high-performance network designs using spine-leaf architectures, EVPN/VXLAN, BGP, IPv6, and 400G/800G networking technologies.
  • Evaluate network architectures supporting NVIDIA, AMD, and next-generation accelerated compute platforms.
  • Act as the executive technical authority for network architecture reviews, design decisions, deployment standards, and operational readiness.

⚡ Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in network engineering, AI infrastructure, HPC networking, cloud networking, or hyperscale data center environments.
  • Experience designing, deploying, or operating large-scale GPU clusters, AI infrastructure, hyperscale cloud networks, or mission-critical data center environments.
  • Strong expertise in RDMA, RoCE, InfiniBand, Ethernet AI fabrics, EVPN/VXLAN, BGP, IPv6, spine-leaf architectures, and high-performance networking.
  • Experience supporting NVIDIA, Mellanox, AMD GPU platforms, GPU fabrics, AI clusters, or accelerated compute infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to operate as both an executive leader and hands-on technical architect.
  • Experience leading vendor evaluations, network platform selection, infrastructure standards, and commercial decision-making.
  • Demonstrated success building teams, operating models, automation frameworks, and engineering organizations from the ground up.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence both senior business leaders and highly technical engineering teams.

⚡ Ideal Background:

  • Senior AI infrastructure, hyperscale networking, cloud infrastructure, or HPC engineering leader operating at executive level.
  • Experience architecting and scaling GPU fabrics, AI cluster networking, or large-scale cloud network environments.
  • Background within hyperscale cloud, AI infrastructure, accelerated computing, digital infrastructure, or mission-critical environments.
  • Proven ability to bridge executive strategy with hands-on technical leadership.
  • Experience scaling engineering organizations, operational processes, infrastructure platforms, and network architecture functions.
  • Strong commercial and vendor management experience with the ability to influence multi-million-dollar infrastructure decisions.

⚡ What’s Attractive About This Opportunity?

  • Executive-level visibility and direct partnership with senior leadership
  • Opportunity to shape the future direction of a rapidly expanding infrastructure platform
  • Significant influence over technology strategy, architecture, and organizational development
  • Greenfield and transformation-focused initiatives with long-term impact
  • Exposure to next-generation infrastructure challenges and emerging technologies
  • Career-defining opportunity to build and scale a world-class engineering function
