The Chief Operating Officer (COO) position entails a wide range of responsibilities in support of my client’s mission to promote a sustainable and inclusive economy. The organization is global, with a focus on supporting social entrepreneurs and underserved populations. The COO’s role encompasses:
Governance Leadership: The COO will lead various internal and external committees, including management, executive committees, and the board of directors across different legal entities. This involves preparing meeting agendas, facilitating internal communication, and ensuring the implementation of decisions.
Operations Oversight: The COO will coordinate and balance workloads for Company Academy International Directors, ensuring uniformity in program implementation. This also includes facilitating resource sharing, such as teams and budgets, and preparing budget proposals.
Coordination of Directors: Seamless coordination among Directors, particularly between different regions (e.g., France, APAC), is vital. This includes mutualizing sourcing of beneficiaries, content management, and sharing best practices.
Management of Country/Regional and International Directors: The COO is responsible for recruitment, onboarding, and management of these Directors. They’ll set clear objectives, track progress, provide guidance on management topics, and address HR-related issues.
Program Improvement: The COO will lead efforts to enhance current program offerings, including operations and knowledge sharing processes. They’ll also help implement lessons learned from previous programs.
Monitoring and Evaluation (MEL): The COO will support Directors in assessing program impact through MEL processes, collecting and reporting KPIs, and implementing a new MEL tool.
Finance and HR Functions: Active participation in finance and HR is crucial. This includes managing the HR Manager, supporting finance and HR teams in structuring teams and processes, developing and implementing long-term financial strategies, and overseeing global financial operations.
Leadership and Team Engagement: The COO should have at least 10 years of top managerial experience and be able to engage, coach, and inspire teams. They should also be adept at structuring organizations and navigating multicultural settings.
Financial Proficiency: Ideally, the COO has experience in financial management, and experience as a CFO is a plus.
Innovation in Education: The COO should have a demonstrated ability to lead innovative projects in the educational field and experience in developing new markets and structuring organizations.
Networking and Cultural Adaptability: An existing network in the educational field and the ability to adapt to different cultures and personalities are important.
Language Skills: Strong oral and written English skills are required.
The COO will report to the Founder and manage a team of Country/Regional and International Directors. The role is global in scope, encompassing operations, HR, and finance. The position is located in France (Paris) or Europe (Warsaw, Berlin), and it is integral to advancing Company’s mission of fostering a sustainable and inclusive economy.
