About the Role

The ideal candidate for the Product Manager – ETRM & Data Products will combine a strong technical foundation and analytical, data-driven perspective, with demonstrated experience working on technology development questions related to energy markets, risk management, energy trading, finance and accounting.

Primary responsibilities of this role will be to develop a forward vision and roadmap for Pulse – Rhythm’s in-house energy trading, risk management, and analytics platform – and adjacent systems. This role will work to improve Rhythm’s ability to manage energy risk, establishing forward looking valuations, providing timely and accurate financial reporting, and developing models to drive improved business KPIs.

This role will be part of Rhythm’s Product Management team and will work closely with Rhythm’s Data Science and Analytics team, Data Engineering and Software Engineering teams, as well as Portfolio Management, Finance, and Commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

This role will be obsessed with ensuring we are using our data as effectively as possible, to power the key systems that drive our business performance, with emphasis on portfolio management, finance, accounting, and commercial systems. This means focusing on items including the following:

• Manage Agile process for Data-focused software projects, with an initial focus on those projects relating to Portfolio Management, Finance, Accounting and Commercial functions
• Manage the development of Pulse, a centralized data engine that serves functions across Rhythm, including risk management, revenue and COGs forecasts, supply position management, and financial reporting
• Work with DevOps and Data Engineering to ensure the quality of data feeding Pulse from various systems, including billing systems, rate plan history, load data, and wholesale prices
• Collaborate with Rhythm’s finance and accounting teams to provide systems that support timely and accurate financial performance reporting and management
• Work with the data analytics and accounting teams to improve third-party settlements processes, enhancing consumption and transformation of energy market data, and building out robust reporting

Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of product or project management experience, with increasing responsibility
• Demonstrated ability to lead product development process from start to finish, including establishing business requirements via customer and stakeholder interactions, defining scope, owning product requirement documentation (PRD), turning PRD into software engineering ready stories, and managing Agile processes
• Ability to distill complex workflows into defined stories and tasks, and communicate with equal fluency with business and technical counterparts
• Deep familiarity with wholesale energy markets and ETRM software required
• Deep experience with development of wholesale pricing models, grid forecasting models, and the related date pipeline needs
• Technical background and understanding of software development processes
• Highly analytical and data-driven decision-maker
• Familiarity with Agile frameworks
• Experience working in fast-paced environment, with a preference for experience in start-up, fast-scaling environments
• Business-minded thinker able to understand company goals and support prioritization and product decision-making that most efficiently achieves those goals, balancing short term feature delivery with long-term value creation
• Experience using industry leading software platforms for visualizing product development (Jira, Linear, Figma, Lucidchart, etc.)
