    ⚡What We’re Looking For:

    • Proven background in aerospace or automotive industries.
    • Strong hands-on experience designing complex, safety-critical electronic systems.
    • Deep expertise in Battery Management Systemshigh-voltage systems, and both analog and digital circuit design.
    • Familiarity with PCBA design tools (Altium preferred).
    • Practical experience with microcontrollers, microprocessors, and FPGAs, including a solid grasp of firmware and embedded software integration.
    • Understanding of certification-driven development processes (e.g., DO-254, DO-160G) is a plus.
    • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

💰 Salary: $170,000-$210,000 + Bonus & Equity

 

Join a cutting-edge team that’s revolutionizing the electricity grid. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Lead Data Scientist to shape the future of energy by developing the next generation of forecasting algorithms for a leading energy market optimizer managing over 3GW+ of energy storage.

As the Lead Data Scientist, you’ll drive the research, development, and deployment of advanced ML models to predict electricity prices and key market dynamics. You’ll play a critical role in designing scalable solutions that feed into real-time optimization systems, with full ownership of production workflows.

 

What role will you play?

The Commodities Data Science team applies new or advanced methods and technologies to build value across the Commodities business. In this role you will work with traders, analysts, quant researchers and technology teams to develop fundamental models and assisting sales and trading in their use of data and models. You will find and develop opportunities to apply new technologies and approaches, and work with external startups to further the commodities business.

This is a rapidly evolving area where your learning mindset, can-do attitude, and effective communication with a diverse set of stakeholders will see you succeed.

What you offer

  • Bachelor’s/Masters/PhD in a quantitative and problem-solving discipline with strong academic performance from a leading University
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, data science and/or machine learning model development and operation in a commercial environment
  • Commodity trading exposure or general familiarity with a trading environment and associated language and terminology is highly positive
  • Experience with an energy systems modelling platforms or technologies such as Plexos, Dayzer, GAMS, PyPSA etc is a plus
  • Familiarity with data analytics platforms such as Dataiku, data visualisation, and cloud computing, such as AWS or GCP, is highly beneficial
