About the Job
Role: Senior Electrical Engineer
Industry: Data Centers / AI Infrastructure
Location: Remote, United States
Work Arrangement: 80% Remote | ~20% Travel
Company Overview
We’re supporting a rapidly growing digital infrastructure organization at the forefront of the data center industry as it expands its AI and HPC (High Performance Computing) capabilities across North America.
As the business continues to scale its engineering function, they are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a lean, highly technical team responsible for the design, development, and delivery of large-scale mission-critical facilities.
Position Summary
The Senior Electrical Engineer will serve as a key technical contributor across multiple data center development projects, providing electrical engineering expertise from site due diligence and Basis of Design development through construction, commissioning, and handover.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys remaining close to the engineering, taking ownership of technical design decisions, and leading complex electrical infrastructure projects rather than operating solely in a project management or review capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design and engineering activities across multiple data center developments
- Develop and maintain Basis of Design (BOD) documentation, engineering standards, and design guidelines
- Design and review medium- and high-voltage electrical systems, including substations, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, busway, and critical power distribution infrastructure
- Perform and review electrical studies including load flow, short-circuit, grounding, protective device coordination, and arc flash analysis
- Support site due diligence, utility coordination, and power availability assessments
- Review consultant, contractor, and vendor deliverables for technical accuracy, constructability, and compliance
- Collaborate with mechanical, commissioning, construction, and operations teams throughout project delivery
- Support procurement, factory acceptance testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and system optimization activities
- Drive consistency, reliability, and technical excellence across a growing portfolio of mission-critical facilities
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of electrical engineering experience within data centers or other mission-critical environments
- Proven experience designing electrical infrastructure from concept through commissioning
- Strong knowledge of medium- and high-voltage power systems and critical facility architecture
- Experience supporting large-scale data center projects, ideally 50MW+ facilities
- Understanding of utility interconnection, substations, transformers, MV/LV distribution, UPS systems, backup generation, and rack-level power delivery
- Familiarity with data center redundancy philosophies including N+1, N+N, and 2N architectures
- Working knowledge of data center cooling systems and their interaction with electrical infrastructure
- Experience with electrical engineering and design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, PSSE, EasyPower, or similar
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, UL, and relevant industry standards
What’s Attractive About This Opportunity?
- Join a growing organization investing heavily in next-generation digital infrastructure
- Work on large-scale, technically challenging data center projects supporting AI and HPC workloads
- Significant ownership and influence across project design and delivery
- Opportunity to shape engineering standards and best practices
- Collaborate with a highly experienced team of industry professionals
- High visibility within a rapidly expanding engineering function
- Clear progression opportunities into Principal Engineer or future technical leadership roles
- Remote-first working environment with manageable travel requirements
