Vice President, Construction

Location: United States

Overview

A leading digital infrastructure developer is seeking a Vice President of Construction to lead the delivery of a rapidly expanding portfolio of hyperscale and AI-focused data center developments across North America.

This executive-level position will be responsible for the strategic leadership, execution, and performance of large-scale development programs from site enablement and preconstruction through commissioning and operational handover. The successful candidate will play a critical role in building and scaling the construction organization while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead construction delivery across multiple active data center campuses and development programs.
  • Build, develop, and mentor regional construction leadership teams.
  • Establish construction strategy, governance, standards, and best practices across the portfolio.
  • Maintain accountability for safety, quality, schedule, budget, risk management, and project execution.
  • Oversee projects from site acquisition, due diligence, and preconstruction through commissioning and turnover.
  • Manage relationships with general contractors, MEP partners, consultants, utilities, and key suppliers.
  • Partner closely with Development, Design, Procurement, Finance, Legal, and Operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support long-range capital planning and portfolio growth initiatives.
  • Identify and mitigate project, commercial, supply chain, labor, and utility-related risks.
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and scalability across the construction platform.
  • Provide executive-level reporting and recommendations to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience leading large-scale mission-critical construction programs.
  • Significant experience within data center development, hyperscale infrastructure, or related critical environments.
  • Proven track record delivering multiple ground-up projects simultaneously.
  • Experience managing regional or national construction teams.
  • Strong understanding of power infrastructure, utility delivery, commissioning, and operational readiness.
  • Experience working directly with hyperscale, AI infrastructure, or colocation developments.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with responsibility for major capital budgets.
  • Ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive cross-functional decision making.
  • Demonstrated success building teams, developing talent, and creating scalable organizations.

Preferred Backgrounds

  • Data center developers and owner/operators.
  • Hyperscale delivery organizations.
  • Mission-critical construction leadership teams.
  • Large-scale industrial, semiconductor, or advanced technology infrastructure environments.

Location & Travel

  • United States based.
  • Travel required across active development sites and corporate locations.

This role is ideal for a construction executive who wants to help build a platform, not simply manage projects, and who is motivated by creating a long-term, scalable organization capable of delivering next-generation digital infrastructure.
